The new sexual predator bill not only imposes harsher prison sentences for people convicted of sexual assaulting or sexually abusing children, it also folds in the language of two other child protections bills that passed the House of Delegates but did not earn Senate approval during the session.

Sex Offender Bill Passes in Special Session

The bill more than doubles the maximum prison sentences for the worst sex offenses against children under 12. Repeat offenders would see even more time added to their prison terms under the bill proposed by Governor Manchin.
